boyxavier, and two deep runs...
So interestingly, last night whilst playing the $22 PLO8 Tourny on Pokerstars, i spent a lot of the tourny with boyxavier to my immediate right, who recently entered his details and finds himself in the top ten South African Pocketfivers list.
Disappointingly, as much as i tried to communicate with him, he ignored me entirely. Maybe his chat was off? On PocketFives he is listed as being from Kaapstad, but on PokerStars he is listed as being from Amsterdam. Maybe he was born here and now lives there? Who knows? He wouldn't chat to me!
So in that tournament, he ended in 5th. I ended up coming 7th. I was in the top 4 for a good majority of the tournament, and then lost 10,000 crucial chips in a hand that i folded that would have had me commiting the rest of my stack against a big stack bully, with a huge fold.
Flop 10c9c,2s I was holding AsKsAcQc. It's a fkn big fold. I put the opponent on a set. He has quite a few outs for the Fullhouse, potential quads, and also straight flush... Point is, i thought he was ahead, otherwise i was not sure he could make that move. Turns out (if what he says is true), that he had KJJX. Which means i was waaay ahead. He would have still had a three queens as outs, two more jacks, and a backdoor low draw... So i Folded having lost 30% of my stack. Prob is, calling would have committed the rest of my stack and i think at this stage it brought me down from 4th postion to about 9th position, but there were about 20 remaining or so still. Anyway, like i said, it was a big fold. I wasn't prepared to go out on the possibility that i was behind. In this game, we often have the security of having the half nuts to one side. I didn't even have that. Maybe the wrong play, but i don't regret it.
As for boyxaviers game. He is super tight. He thinks super clearly with each and every decision. He makes big folds. All in all, i rate his play highly. He has a very good sense of starting hand requirements and a very good read of the game. Top PLO8 player in my opinion. Which i guess is why he finished ahead of me in the tourny. Well done to him. Hope he speaks to me next time though.
The other tourny i cashed in was the $12 dollar Rush NLHE event which attracted about 1500 entrants. Unfortunately i only placed about 70th for $25 dollars. Not really worth the effort, but final tabling definitely reaps its rewards and that is the only way of looking at it. It's the only goal we must have. Winning!
So overall, made a small profit last night. $30-to-$40 dollars...
Fortunately I may have some time to play a few more tournies later on! I'm looking forward if it is the case.
Cheers for now,
Fin
